Process, Materials, Care
Can I work out and/or swim in my jewelry?
Amber E. Lea jewelry is meant to be worn. We encourage you to wear it as you wish whether that’s to your next yoga class, on a run, around the house or on your next trip. Swimming or showering in your pieces is ok! We do recommend that you use caution when layering on sunscreen and lotions as these products have oils that can cause adverse reactions to some of our materials.
How do you make your pieces?
Decades of experimentation and curiosity have led us to our detail-oriented process to make our jewelry and homeware pieces. You can learn more about our process here.
What materials do you use?
For our jewelry pieces we use 14k gold fill and sterling silver.
Gold fill is made from solid gold, which is 'filled' with other alloys. Unlike gold plating, It will not flake or turn your skin green. The finish and surface of gold fill has the same properties as solid gold because it is gold. Please note that 14k gold fill has a brass core, so please be mindful if you have extremely sensitive skin. Please care for your gold fill pieces just as you would a gold piece of jewelry. Gently polish by hand with a clean cloth.
When worn regularly, silver usually keeps its bright state. If kept out for periods, even unworn, it can tarnish; how it tarnishes depends on the type of climate you live in. You can quickly rid your silver jewelry of tarnish with a simple polish.
How can I keep my jewelry looking its best?
We recommend cleaning the fine metals with a polishing cloth and washing the porcelain with mild soap. Be sure not to scrub the 22k gold or silver (white gold) luster. This surface treatment may wear or fade with time depending on use. Every piece of jewelry and each ceramic element is made to be durable, but please use care when wearing them. And lastly, Amber E. Lea jewelry is meant to be worn. We encourage you to wear it as you wish whether to your next yoga class, on a run, around the house or on your next trip.
Are your glazes food safe and can I put my homewares in the dishwasher or microwave?
Yes, our glazes are food safe. And yes, you can put our homewares in the dishwasher or microwave. We do not recommend placing our pieces in the oven or using them for baking.
Shipping, Returns & Orders
Where do you ship?
We ship domestically and internationally. International orders travel via USPS and will be treated the same as domestic shipments.
How long does shipping take?
All in-stock items will be shipped within 2-3 business days via USPS. Domestic shipments travel First Class. An email notification with tracking information will be sent to you once your order is on its way.
What is your refund and/or returns policy?
We hope you love your Amber E. Lea pieces; however, if you are unhappy with your purchase we can offer an exchange for goods within 10 days of purchase. All sale items are final.
If an item you purchased breaks because of a defect, we will repair or replace the piece free of charge. Please email us at hello@amberelea.com to begin this process and if you have any further questions.
We cannot offer refunds or replacements for damages caused by improper care, accidents, or natural breakdown of materials and extended use over time. If an accident does occur, we can offer repair services for a minimal fee. Please send us an email at hello@amberelea.com notifying us of the issue and ship your piece to: P.O. Box #13405 San Luis Obispo, CA 93406. Most items can be repaired easily with minimal costs and will take 3-4 weeks to make it back to you.
As a friendly reminder, our jewelry pieces are made of porcelain, which is a glass-like material. While it is very durable, we recommend you try to avoid dropping your jewelry or knocking it against hard surfaces.
My piece needs repaired, what should I do?
Accidents happen and we’re here to help. If your piece is in need of repair within 30 days of receiving, please send us an email at hello@amberelea.com notifying us of the issue and ship your piece to:P.O. Box #13405 San Luis Obispo, CA 93406. Most items can be repaired easily with minimal costs and will take 3-4 weeks to make it back to you.
I’ve had my piece for several months and/or years, and now it’s damaged. Is it possible to send me a replacement?
Our pieces are delicate in nature and unfortunately, we are not responsible for damaged pieces months or years after receiving them. While our pieces are durable and made to last, we recommend using and wearing them with care. If you’re particularly attached to your piece for sentimental reasons, we recommend contacting us at hello@amberelea.com to inquire about remaking your piece as a custom order.
Orders
How long do custom orders take?
Custom orders can take several weeks to make and ship. For further questions in regards to custom pieces, please email us at hello@amberelea.com.
I received an email that my order has shipped, but I haven’t received any tracking information. What should I do?
You will receive another email with tracking information once we officially print the shipping label. Kindly note that at this point, that does not mean that your order has shipped since it will need to be picked up by our mail carrier.
I’m not seeing the style / color that I’d love to purchase online. Is it possible to place a custom order?
Please send us an email at hello@amberelea.com of the piece you had in mind and we can let you know if we can fulfill your order in addition to sharing a pricing estimate.
